Varsity Basketball lost in the first round of sectionals at Dekalb against the Bishop Dwenger Saints 59-46. The boys ended the season with a record of 15-9. Senior Jason Marquardt and junior Connor McKinnon received first team All-City for hockey.

The Weekend in Sports
Sophomore Michael Eley led the way with 27 points and junior Jayshawn Underwood played stifling defense, as Varsity Basketball was victorious against Marion 70-59. Panther Hockey lost in the city semi-finals to the Homestead Spartans in shutout fashion, falling 3-0. The Panthers start their run for state on Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m. at the Parkview SportONE Icehouse against Brubeuf Jesuit Prep School. Junior Connor Mihavics placed sixteenth at the state dive meet.

Panther Hockey won in the first round of the city tournament, beating the Bishop Dwenger Saints 3-1. Senior Sean Stutzman delivered the go-ahead goal early in the third period. Junior diver Connor Mihavics placed seventh at the regionals competition at Fishers, qualifying for state.

Boys Varsity Basketball lost on the road in the fourth quarter to the South Side Archers 65-53. Junior Airyan Thomas lead the team with 21 points, a season high of seven 3-point shots, but Boys Varsity Basketball lost on the road against Cathedral 77-65. Junior Beau Humphrey ended his season at state losing to Finnearty of Culver 11-4, ending his season with a record of 30-3.

Panther Hockey lost to Homestead on senior night 3-0. Seniors Jason Marquardt, Andrew Schiebel, Bryce Hower, Sean Stutzman and Justin Dehner were recognized for their leadership and commitment to the program.

Junior Beau Humphrey placed third among wrestlers at semi-state, qualifying for state February 16 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Panther Hockey controlled the game for 3 periods against the Bishop Dwenger Saints, winning 5-2 in regulation.

Panther Hockey beat the Northrop Bruins 3-1, improving their record to 15-13-1 on the season. The Panthers will make up their game against Bishop Dwenger on Saturday, February 10 at 7:10 p.m.
Wayne Bergeron to Perform at Nicholas Jazz Festival
The 28th annual Nicholas Jazz Festival will be held at Snider this Saturday. The Nicholas Invitational was named after Carl Nicholas, former choir director at Snider. Thirty-seven high school and middle school big bands, jazz string ensembles and combos will compete for top honors.
