Wayne Bergeron to Perform at Nicholas Jazz Festival

The 28th annual Nicholas Jazz Festival will be held at Snider this Saturday. The Nicholas Invitational was named after Carl Nicholas, former choir director at Snider.  Thirty-seven high school and middle school big bands, jazz string ensembles and combos will compete for top honors.

Performances will take place in the Auditorium, East Gym and Multi-Purpose Room (Chicken Gym) from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.  Our guest artist for the festival is Wayne Bergeron who has played lead trumpet with Maynard Ferguson and Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band.  He is one of the top on-call trumpet players in Los Angeles and can be heard on many television and motion picture soundtracks including “The Incredibles.”

Bergeron will present a clinic in the Auditorium from noon to 1:00 p.m. and will perform with the Snider “Wind Machine” on the Grand Finale Concert at 5:00 p.m.
