Students help save souls with soles

Lead by Bio-Med teacher Mrs. Ehle-Fails, Snider students participated in collecting shoes for the Nashville-based charity, Soles4Souls. The Panthers donated nearly 850 pairs of shoes. Shoes could be new or used; they could be single shoes, or in pairs. Single shoes or shoes of poor quality are recycled and save an estimated 3.8 billion pounds of textiles from
ending up in landfills. Any type of shoe was accepted from baby shoes to heels to sandals and anything in between.

Sophomore Hayden Tippmann carries collected shoes to the drop off area.

The purpose behind Soles4Souls is to donate shoes that will end up in one of two general locations. Some shoes go to developing countries to help protect children’s feet from cuts, fungus, contaminated soil and insect bites. Many countries don’t allow children to attend school unless they have shoes. Some shoes will stay in the USA and go to the 1 in 5 children living in poverty. Donations are said to help these people gain new dignity, courage and hope.

Taking part in Soles4Souls is just another way that Snider students give back to not just our community, but communities around the world.
